Tiny T-Ballers Rules
Section 1
Field Setup. The field shall be set up as directed below:
(a) The field of play is shared by an infield and an outfield separated into fair and foul territory.
(b) The field is similar to the dimensions of a youth baseball field, but with only 50 feet between the bases
(c) The diamond is a square with a base at each corner.
(d) The bases include first, second and third base. They will be made of canvas or soft rubber, and will not be fastened in place.
(e) The batting tee shall be placed on home plate.
(f) The pitchers mound shall be placed 38 feet from home plate centered on an imaginary line drawn from the center of home plate to second base.
(g) The foul lines extend from home plate past the edges of first and third bases.
Section 2
Playing Rules. The following playing rules shall apply:
(a) The Tiny T-Baller’s league is an introductory instructional league whose sole purpose is to develop the player’s skills.
(b) Games shall consist of one hour or at least three innings of play, to start at a designated time. This time may be amended as deemed necessary by the team coaches.
(c) One half innings shall be the completion of the entire batting order. There will be no balls, strikes or outs counted.
(d) The batting order shall be a consistent rotation of the team roster in an order selected by the team manager. The order established at the start of the game shall be followed, without change, until the game is over. If a player shows up after the start of the game, he/she will be added to the bottom of the batting order.
(e) The use of personal bats and helmets is permitted, but they must be designed for tee ball and meet the minimum safety standards.
(f) All fielders shall wear ball gloves.
(g) Safe-T balls shall be used.
(h) All players present will be on the field during their team’s turn to be in the field. Positions shall be filled preferably in this order:
(1) Pitcher
(2) First base
(3) Second base
(4) Third base
(5) Shortstop
(6) Center field
(7) Left field
(8) Right field
(9) A position between first and second base
(10) Short field (a position between right and left field)
(11) Coaches discretion on other positions
(i) All batters and base runners must be wearing a helmet.
(j) A hit is considered the ball being struck by the players bat and traveling past an imaginary line, drawn as an arc between foul lines, ten feet out from home plate.
(k) Base runners will advance only one base, regardless of how far the ball was hit, or the outcome of the fielding of the hit. There will be absolutely no extra bases taken for fielding errors.
(l) Play will be immediately stopped when a player becomes injured, and proper medical attention will be given at the coach’s discretion.
(m) If any player, in the opinion of the Coach, has sustained a serious injury, and a parent or guardian is on scene, they will be released to said person. If their parents or guardians are not present, they will be contacted and the coach shall determine the best course of action to resolve the injury.
(n) Runners must maintain contact with the base until the ball is hit. Base stealing is not permitted.
(o) There will be no player put at the catcher’s position.
(p) The coach of the team at bat will stand by home plate and assist batters, adjust the tee and put the ball on the tee. He/she will also be responsible to remove the tee after the ball is hit.
(q) Other coaches or parent volunteers may be base coaches while that team is a bat.
(r) The fielding team must have a minimum of two coaches or one coach and one parent volunteer on the field during play.
(s) No win/loss records will be kept. Only a record of the player having batted will be taken.
Section 3
Team Rules.
(a) All coaches and parent volunteers must have a completed volunteer application on file with the PLTTB.
(b) If a team’s roster of players falls below eight during the season, that team may be disbanded and the players reassigned.
(c) Team rosters will ideally consist of ten players, with a maximum of thirteen. If after filling team rosters with ten players each there is a remainder of players, those players will be assigned equally to other teams.
(d) During the season, additional teams may be added and players moved if they so desire. No player will be forced to change teams after the season starts.
(e) Siblings will be assigned to the same team if the parent so desires.
(f) Parents who wish to have their child’s team changed may request a change by contacting a Director.
(g) The minimum age for play is three by April 1st of the season. Once a child reaches legal playing age for the South Sutter Baseball League, they must play for that league.
(h) No child will be turned away from the league regardless of race, sex, religion, color or creed. As well as no child will be turned away based on their residence or ability to pay. If the player will not be able to pay the registration fee, they will be allowed to play, and will be asked to make up for the cost by either volunteering time or participating in a fundraiser.
(i) Following each game, members of both teams and spectators shall pick up any trash around the fields, playing areas and dugouts.
(j) Coaches are responsible to ensure this happens.
(k) Teams may elect to appoint a Team Parent. This person is also required to have a volunteer application on file. -3- (l) All teams are required to be supervised by at least two adults: a coach and a parent volunteer, at all practices and games.
(m) Coaches are responsible for returning all equipment issued by the PLTTB after season play has ended.
(n) Coaches are responsible for taking proper action when a player is injured.
(o) Any conflict with a player, their parent or other spectator will be brought to the attention of a Director. If disciplinary action is necessary the involved parties will be notified of the decision by the Board.
(p) Games shall not be rescheduled by Coaches, unless prior approval has been given by the Board of Directors.
(q) Above all, remember that this leagues number one goal is to be a positive influence in the development of young minds. All decisions should be made with this in mind. Any person who does not support or encourage this philosophy will not be part of this league.
