Got Fireworks?
 The PLYSA along with the PTO(Parent Teachers Organization) will be selling fireworks at the corner of River Oaks and Zanes. The stand will be open from June 28th to July 4th. Come stock up on your favorite fireworks and be the talk of your block! |
Tiny T-Ballers
The Tiny T-Ballers season came to an end on June 2nd, and I am happy to report that everyone had a good time. It was a joy to see how much fun the players, parents and coaches had during the season. Focus on Families
It's getting closer! The newest division of the PLYSA, Focus on Families is less than 3 months from making its debut. What is Focus on Families? It's what you have asked for! In conjunction with OPUD, we will be reopening the Olivehurst youth center(only 5 minutes from PL), with a variety of programs for all ages. Such programs will include Kindermusic, fitness classes, arts & crafts, discussion groups and more. Is there something you would like to see happen? Leave us some feedback. For more information please check out our website or click here. On September 1st we will having a huge community festival at the youth center to promote the grand unveiling of Focus on Families. The PLYSA is looking for a building to house a gymnastics and dance center. We hope to have a program in place in the near future. If you know of anywhere available, please contact us. Basketball season is also right around the corner. Sign-ups will begin in August for the season beginning in November. |

 I am excited about the direction that the PLYSA is heading. Every day we seem to be picking up steam and making new connections. As you have seen, the new sports complex is being started at the corner of Zanes and River Oaks by Rio del Oro. When the developers are done, it will be grass, a couple of fences and some play equipment. It is going to be up to us as a community to finish it. I have envisioned a great sports complex that will be the best around. This will take time, money and volunteers. Please keep this in mind, because we will soon be looking for your support. I am also looking forward to the opening of the youth center. This will be one more step into making this a better place to live. I am trying hard to acquire a building, or some land to build a facility, to house a gymnastics and dance center. This has been a hard and frustrating process, but I am not losing hope yet. I appreciate everyone's kind words and letters and am proud to be a part of this community. When I see the smiling faces of the kids playing in our leagues, I need no other reward. Thanks again to everyone who has supported us. |
